What Was Old Is Now New: 3 Things I Learned in Salt Lake City

I just got back from an NPAworldwide conference in Salt Lake City. The basic message of the conference was “what was old is new.” NPA is an organization of over 500 recruiters who work collaboratively all over the world.

Attending the conference was a good move for me, as I was able to interact with other people who do what I do. Plus, it was great to meet people I have done business with previously (two of whom are in the photo) and other people who could become “partners”.

Overall, here are the three main take-aways I got from the conference.

1. In the post-Covid boom times almost everyone did well, but they forgot a lot of what they had done pre-Covid.

2. Person-to-person contact is now critical. Cold calling is back in. Who knew?

3. The world has become much more international. NPA is an international organization, which is a huge advantage. For example, one of the members of the accounting and finance group did over $1.2 million revenue working with a Korea company that was listed on the NYSE.

I’d encourage anyone out there to attend conferences in their industry just to get themselves out of the building and meet with people again.
