The host of the radio program “The CEO Show”, Robert Reiss, just posted a terrific article on CNBC’s website – “I talked to 1,000 of the world’s top CEOs—here’s the No. 1 question they want you to ask at a job interview.”
Spoiler alert! The number one question is: “What traits will help me succeed long-term at the company?”
Reiss goes on to list five traits that help people succeed.
From my experience as a financial recruiter, I believe people who rise to the position of CEO have done so because they challenged themselves and we acted.
As I recruiter, I’m astonished at how few individuals I talk to have done either. Their resumes are a listing of functional responsibilities with no action orientation or true accomplishments.
In my opinion, the advice to “get along and to get ahead” doesn’t work. To be successful you need to be challenging yourself and others.
