Like most of us who have been isolated from family by Covid, my brother Gary and I hadn’t seen our youngest brother Wayne in quite a while. We missed each other.
When Wayne let me know he would like to get together again, Gary and I thought it would be fun to do something special. Wayne loves trout fishing but isn’t in good enough shape to go wader fishing. So Gary lined up a guide, who took us out on the largest self-contained lake in Central Pennsylvania, Raystown Lake.
Usually when I go fishing, I get “skunked.” In other words, I catch nothing. But this guide knew exactly how to help us find rockfish, the freshwater version of striped bass. The fish are voracious feeders and get quite large.
Using a rod and reel, we caught a bunch of what we thought were huge fish. The guide was disappointed, and said he usually catches larger fish. But we were thrilled. (See photo.)
It was so nice to reconnect with our youngest brother and hope to go fishing with him again in 2023.
What are you hoping to do in 2023?
