Going, Going, Gone! 4 Lessons Learned in 2023.

I am not sure how your year was, but mine was weird.  Not bad, not great; just unexpected.

Here are four lessons learned in 2023, and what I want to do differently in 2024:

  1. I worked with an unprofessional hiring manager at an expanding company for longer than I should have. In the future, I will try to cut my losses earlier.
  2. I had a great time working with an expanding nonprofit, helping them hire a Finance Director on a pro bono basis. I want to do more of this kind of work in 2024.
  3. When working with business owners, I’ve come to realize that the problems they face are not the same ones that I think are important. I need to ask more questions and offer fewer solutions.
  4. I was thrilled when several former clients reached out to me after they joined new organizations with hiring needs. I will endeavor to keep in touch with good contacts whom I worked with in the past.

What are your thoughts about what happened in 2023? How are they influencing your goals and plans for 2024?

All the best for a happy, healthy, and successful New Year!
