Don’t Make My Mistake.

When hiring, rushing can have disastrous results.

When I ran my family’s temporary help business, I wanted to complete the placement process quickly. I thought it would save money.

I sent a temp to a prestigious client to work in the mailroom. In doing so, I violated several of the six requirements my father set up when he started the business.

Later that week, we got a call from the client saying our temp had “borrowed” one of the rental cars and was seen in the downtown area driving the car while two of his friends shoplifted.

The police chased the car, which was abandoned, and the three escaped.

I realized if I wanted to succeed in the personnel business, I needed a system.

Do you have any big hiring mistakes you’ve made? How have you dealt with avoiding them in the future?
