Aaron Spool from the Eventus Advisory Group made an excellent post recently on LinkedIn about the need most companies have for greater strategic financial leadership – “CFOs are in demand!

Too many small to medium-sized business owners (“SMBs”) don’t realize the importance of having a CFO or Controller with a broad, strategic grasp of all aspects of managing the finances of a company – from accounting to financial planning to IT-related functions.

Most SMBs only get information about what has already happened, with little or no insight into what will be happening and how that can be improved.

A fractional CFO is one option, as Aaron pointed out.

But there is an alternative path. Over the years we have placed Accounting Managers and Controllers, who have provided the companies they work for with actionable information that increased profits by 50 to 100% and helped the business grow faster.
